In the most recent incident, the professional Fortnite player was kicked off the team after using the n-word in a voice conversation with his teammates.
A video circulating on Twitter purports to show Cented entering a voice chat lobby and then instantly greeting the other gamers with the n-word. Before the video clip came to an end, it appeared that one of the other players had a surprised look on his face. Yesterday at 5pm central time, FaZe Clan made the announcement that it was cutting ties with the professional player.
The organization made the announcement in a short statement that was issued on Twitter. It read;
FaZe is constantly evolving and we expect our members to do the same.
Cented is permanently removed from FaZe due to his use of hate speech. We, and the gaming community at large cant tolerate discriminatory language any longer.
In July 2021, a few FaZe Clan players promoted what became a crypto scam. The franchise expelled Frazier Kay Khattri from the organization and suspended Jarvis Jarvis Khattri, Nikan Nikan Nadim, and Jakob Teeqo for their involvement in a crypto pump-and-dump scandal.
The cryptocurrency Save The Kids was released in June 2021 as an alternative to Dogecoin, Bitcoin, and Etherium. A percentage of proceeds was allegedly promised to charity.
The organization was also met with outrage after Faze Virus voiced strong dissatisfaction of the group’s supportive Pride post in June.
Cented took to his Twitter page to issue an apology, where he confirmed he was no longer a part of FaZe Clan. It read;
Im sorry guys. No longer with FaZe, mutually parted ways with them, I made a mistake and theres no excuses, will only try and do better.
He also published a far more detailed statement on the platform, TwitLonger, where he stated that he should not have included the word in his lexicon at all and that he feels terrible to have done so.
I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to be an example, a role model and arguably a decent human being and chose not to, Cented wrote. I chose to put myself and everything I represent in jeopardy by being immature. I am ashamed of myself and my actions.
Despite the fact that Cented still has his platform and audience, his actions and the loss of the FaZe branding will certainly have a detrimental impact on him.
